Dutch to fund Kilimanjaro Facelift

The Netherlands is committing $36.4 million as part of its Facility for Infrastructure Development programme to the redevelopment of Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro International Airport.  The funds will provide for the expansion and renovation of the passenger terminal as well as the resurfacing of the runway, aprons and associated taxiways.  Design work began in January and construction is expected to begin in 2013/14.  The Netherlands is providing about 50% of the total cost, with the remainder to be paid by the Kilimanjaro Airports Development Company.
