Mitie Takes Off with Birmingham

Strategic outsourcing and energy services company MITIE has won a contract to provide cleaning and environmental services for Birmingham Airport, UK.  The five-year contract is worth £10 million ($16.2 million) and commenced as this issue went to press.
The MITIE team will provide terminal cleaning, waste management and pest control.  It will also clean the airport’s monorail and the Birmingham International Interchange at the railway station.  Assistance will also be offered in the winter preparation for the airport.
Johan Venter, MD of MITIE’s transport cleaning business, said:  “We are delighted with this win.  Nearly nine million passengers use Birmingham Airport each year and it is our challenge to ensure that the terminal is as clean as possible every day.”
