New VP of Corporate Affairs

UAE airline Etihad Airways has announced the appointment of Michael Venus as Vice President of the company’s Corporate Affairs department.
Mr Venus, who has been the carrier’s Head of International Media Relations since last June, will now be responsible for Etihad’s public affairs and corporate communications, including global media relations, social media strategy, internal communications, corporate social responsibility, environmental affairs and corporate events.
The award-winning journalist has more than 30 years’ media experience, including roles as a daily columnist, feature writer and investigative journalist.  His career began in Australian newspapers and progressed until he became Chief of Staff at National Nine News television network in Melbourne.  He held this role for more than a decade, and in 2003, was appointed Director of News.
“Michael brings a wide range of skills and experience to this role,” commented James Hogan, the airline’s President and CEO.  “He will help us move up to the next level in our global communications.”
Mr Hogan also thanked Mr Venus’ predecessor Belinda de Rome, who held the position of Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs for three years.
