The Barclays London Heliport is anticipating its busiest weekend of the year, having confirmed record bookings for the British Formula 1 Santander Grand Prix at Silverstone, UK, which is due to run from July 6 to 8.  Bookings from City-based corporates and private individuals are up on previous years, with just a few slots remaining for the three days.
Heliport Manager Simon Hutchins commented:  “Bookings are up 100% and counting on last year’s [Grand Prix] event.  The slot allocation for Sunday [the official race day] is almost fully utilised and Saturday is heading towards maximum capacity too.”
Mr Hutchins revealed that around 15% of bookings are from connecting passengers who will arrive at London’s airports.  He also said that with the 2012 London Olympics next month, the Heliport was “certainly in for a record-breaking summer.”
The Heliport is only a 25-minute flight from the Silverstone race circuit.
