Largest Capacity Airport Shuttle Bus

Algiers International Airport now has three Van Hool AP2375s in service. (Van Hool)

Algiers International Airport has taken delivery of its third Van Hool AP2375; the world’s largest capacity airport shuttle-bus.  While a standard-sized vehicle measures 39ft 4in (12m) long and 8ft 4in (2.55m) wide, the AP2375 is stretched to 48ft (14.64m) long and 12ft (3.75m) wide.  Using the IATA standing room guideline that allows four passengers per 10.76 sq ft (1m²), this gives the AP2375 a carrying capacity of 160 persons; 146 standing and 14 seated.
Boarding and disembarkation is expedited by six double doors; two on the right side, two on the left, one at the front and one at the rear.
In addition to the bus’ high capacity, it is also equipped with a double-strength air conditioning system to cope with the extreme temperatures often experienced at Algiers.
The arrival of the latest vehicle means that Algiers has taken delivery of 17 Van Hool airport shuttle buses of various designs since 1991.  All of them are still in service.
