The Port of Seattle Commission gave final design authorisation yesterday (July 24) for an estimated US$230 million renovation of the north satellite at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The project will include modernising facilities, seismic upgrades, enhanced traveller amenities, three new gates and a new roof-top lounge for Alaska Airlines, which will become the sole tenant of the facility.
The North Sea-Tac Airport Renovations (STAR) project will be a working arrangement between the airline and the port. Additional renovations will include improvements to the main terminal, C and D concourses and the airfield. Visual renderings are expected to be released by mid-2013, with construction due to start by winter 2014. The entire project is slated for completion in late 2016. (Photo – Sea-Tac)
