The new Rental Car Facility at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, USA, has welcomed its one millionth passenger, just ten weeks after opening.
The passenger was brought to the LEED Silver facility by one of the airport’s environmentally-friendly compressed natural gas (CNG) shuttles, which carry more than 1,500 passengers per hour during peak periods. So far, the busiest day has seen more than 18,000 passengers use the shuttle service, which is projected to carry over five million passengers per year.
It is estimated that one in five of Sea-Tac’s 32 million-plus passengers will rent a car from the five-storey, 2.1 million sq ft (195,096.4m2) facility, which was completed US$20 million under budget. (Image: Sea-Tac)
