The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has purchased 200 additional ProVision ATD personnel screening systems from L-3 Security & Detection Systems (SDS), worth more than US$29 million.
More than 500 of the units with image-free ATD software have already been deployed at more than 100 US airports.
The millimetre wave-based ProVision ATD automatically detects potential threats and highlights their location on a generic image that appears on a monitor attached to the equipment.
Thomas M Ripp, President of L-3 SDS, commented: “We’ve reached the important milestone of over 1,000 units procured worldwide.  We continue to invest in our innovative algorithms to keep abreast of emerging threats and regulatory requirements.”
