Vanderlande Industries has won the contract to deliver a baggage handling system to the new Terminal 2 at Hanoi International Airport, Vietnam. The company was chosen by Japanese contractor Taisei Vinaconex Joint Venture (TVJV), consultant JAC and end-user Airport Corporation Vietnam (ACV).
The order makes Vanderlande the market leader for automated baggage handling systems in Vietnam, introducing automated sorting and integrated 100% hold baggage screening. The system – the second in the country after Danang Airport – is designed for ten million passengers per annum and will be operational by December 2014.
Terminal 2 will now benefit from four check-in islands with 24 desks each; integration of customs and security screening up to Level 5; a Helixorter tilt tray sorter; four tilted Triplanar carousels; two manual coding stations; one transfer infeed position; six flat Triplanar arrival carousels with feeding lines; advanced VIBES SAC software; and VIBES baggage reconciliation.
