Singapore Changi Airport handled 4.28 million passenger movements in August 2012, showing a 10.9% increase year-on-year. Air traffic movements also grew 6.5% to 27,400 flights.
Double-digit growth was registered for demand for air travel to and from Southeast Asia, South Asia, Southwest Pacific, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas. However, air freight movements declined 4.4% year-on-year to 146,400 tonnes.
So far this year, Changi has seen 33.6 million passenger movements, up 10.5%; 214,000 flight movements, an increase of 9%; and 1.2 million tonnes of cargo, which has decreased by 1.9%.
