First for Goldhofer

Goldhofer has announced it is the first aircraft tow-tractor manufacturer to receive Boeing’s approval to tow the Boeing 787 Dreamliner with its towbarless tractors (TLT).
The announcement comes after Goldhofer, together with the 787’s launch customer, All Nippon Airways (ANA), successfully performed Non-Technical Objection (NTO) tests on the new airliner with its AST-1 and AST-2 series TLTs.
The tests must be undertaken by every manufacturer for each type of aircraft to get clearance rights to tow the aircraft and are audited by the aircraft’s manufacturer.  Meanwhile, Thai Airways has received its second Goldhofer AST-1 X for its recently-arrived Airbus A380 aircraft.
The airline received the first of the 490 HP four-wheel drive TLTs, designed for pushback and towing operations, just before its first A380 arrived at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport at the end of September.
