Warsaw’s Chopin Airport took delivery of two new Rosenbauer Panther ARFF vehicles on November 7. They replace two Barrakuda vehicles delivered between 1996 and 1997.
Jan Jagnyziak, chief of the airport’s fire service commented: “This will enable us to ensure even higher safety standards at Chopin Airport. Our old vehicles needed frequent repairs and were not always all operational. Now that problem has gone.”
As part of a procurement project for the airport’s fire service its fire-fighters are also taking delivery of equipment to enable them to remove disabled aircraft from runways or taxiways.
The new equipment cost 10.6 million Polish Zlotys net (US$3.4m), with 8.5 million Zlotys (US$2.7m) coming from the Operational Infrastructure and Environment Programme run by the European Union’s Regional Development Fund.
