Ford Airport Gets United DC Link

Gerald R Ford International Airport (GFIA) and United Airlines have announced a new non-stop service from GFIA to Washington Dulles International Airport.
The twice-daily service, to be operated by ExpressJet under the United Express banner, is scheduled to start on Wednesday, May 1, 2013.  Tickets are already available for purchase.
The new service will be the number of GFIA’s non-stop destinations to 22.
Scheduled weekday departures from GFIA will be at 09:15 and 14:30, with scheduled arrivals back at GFIA at 14:05 and 20:23.   The route will be operated with 50-seat Embraer regional jet aircraft.
GFIA Executive Director, Brian Ryks, commented: “We are very pleased to be a part of United Airline’s expanding network.  The addition of service to Washington-Dulles International not only offers our West Michigan flyers a nonstop flight to our nation’s capital, it also provides excellent domestic and international connections through another major hub airport.”
Gerald R Ford International is the second busiest airport in the State of Michigan, and ranks among the top 15% of busiest airports in the US and currently handles more than 2 million passengers a year.
