Iberia Airports Services Extends Ground Handling Contract

Iberia Airport Services (IAS), the Spanish airline’s ground handling unit, has extended its contract to provide airport services to the German carrier Germanwings.
The contract, renewed for a two-year period, covers ramp services to aircraft at
Palma de Majorca and Malaga airports, and the handling of both aircraft and
passengers at Bilbao, Ibiza and Mahon.
IAS says it handled over 2,000 Germanwings operations in Spain last year and expects the total to increase in 2013, as the airline its playing a new role in the short – and medium- haul routes of the Lufthansa Group.  José Gómez, Assistant Sales Manager for Iberia Airport Services, said “This contract represents the consolidation of relations between the two companies, who have worked well together for a number of years.”
IAS serves over 200 airlines at Spanish airports.  Foreign customers account for some 85% of the division’s revenues at all Spanish airports, except Iberia’s main Madrid-Barajas hub.
It operates at 39 Spanish airports plus Tel Aviv in Israel and the cities of Malabo and Bata in Equatorial Guinea.
