Lyon Handles World’s Largest Aircraft

An Antonov 225 freighter arrived at Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport on January 31.  It was the first time that the French airport has handled the world’s largest aircraft type.
This widebodied freighter is 275ft (84m) long with a wingspan of 290ft (88.4m); it is 59ft 4in (18.1m) tall with a capacity for up to 250 metric tonnes.  Arriving from Bamako, Mali, the An-225 landed at Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport last night for a ‘tech stop’, allowing its crew to rest overnight before flying on to Istres Air Base, France.
The aircraft’s services are marketed by Ruslan International and operated by Antonov Airlines (ADB – Antonov Design Bureau).
