Virgin America Launches Silicon Valley Services

From May 1, 2013, Virgin America will operate four daily flights to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) from Mineta San José International Airport (SJC).
Operating Airbus A320 aircraft, seating up to 149 passengers, the carrier will operate from gate 14 in SJC’s Terminal A, located next to The Club at SJC.
Mayor Chuck Reed commented:  “Virgin America will find great support in the world’s centre of innovation.  Silicon Valley is leading the country in job creation and Virgin America’s new service will support our job growth with convenient and efficient air service.”
Virgin America offers connections from LAX to numerous domestic and international markets, including Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Fort Lauderdale, Newark (from April 2), New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC and Cancun.

According to a statement from the airport, it expects much of the direct economic impact from the new flights to come from additional parking revenue; an increase in passengers at the airport and the associated revenue generated in restaurants and retail stores; and passenger facility charges (PFCs), which stand at $4.50 for each ticketed passenger.
