Lyon Handles World's Largest Aircraft

6) Antonov Lyon

An Antonov 225 freighter arrived at Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport on January 31, marking the first time the French airport had handled the world’s largest aircraft type.  The widebodied freighter is 275ft-long (84m) with a wingspan of 290ft (88.4m); it is 59ft 4in-tall (18.1m) with a capacity for up to 250 metric tonnes.  Arriving from Bamako, Mali, the An-225 landed at Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport for a ‘tech stop’, allowing its crew to rest overnight before flying on to Istres Air Base, France.
