Cathay Pacific Orders Three 747-8 Freighters

Cathay Pacific Airways has ordered three Boeing 747-8 Freighter aircraft, increasing its fleet of the type to 13.  The order, valued at $1 billion at list prices, also includes options for five additional 777 Freighters.
John Slosar, Chief Executive of the carrier, commented:  “The 747-8 Freighter has provided our revamped cargo fleet with efficient fuel savings as well as environmental benefits.”
The new freighters are expected to replace progressively Cathay Pacific’s 747-400 Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF) fleet.  The airline currently operates six 747-400 Freighters, eight 747-8 Freighters, six 747-400ER Freighters and one 747-400 BCF.
Including the latest order, the carrier is awaiting delivery for five 747-8 Freighters.  Boeing has received orders for 70 of the type from more than nine customers and has delivered 28 of the aircraft to six airlines.
