ADP Opens New Amman Terminal

Aéroports de Paris Management (ADPM) opened the new terminal at Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) in Amman, Jordan, on March 21.  ADPM is the sole operator on a 25-year contract and a 9.5% shareholder of the airport.
The 1,108,683sq ft (103,000m2) facility can accommodate up to nine million passengers a year, doubling the capacity of QAIA.  The departure lounges are planned for extension, increasing the capacity to 12 million.  Its retail space occupies 202,362sq ft (18,800m2).
Jacques Follain, Managing Director of ADPM, commented:  “Aéroports de Paris Management’s experience as an operator will optimise the development of the Royal Jordanian hub and create value through first-class commercial activity spread out over more than twice the current floor space.”
The terminal was designed by architect Foster + Partners and the project cost $750 million.
