As part of the drive to transform the passenger experience at Stansted Airport, UK, new owner Manchester Airports Group (MAG) has introduced free WiFi service for passengers.
The WiFi network ‘_stanstedairport’ is free for 60 minutes and will be available for passengers once they have completed a simple registration process. The system recognises previously registered devices, so there’s no need for passengers to re-register.
Stansted’s Terminal Manager Neil Banks commented: “We live in a modern mobile world where accessing the internet on smart phones, tablets and laptops is now a daily routine. The new service will be particularly convenient for UK residents not on 3G or 4G mobile contracts and for overseas visitors who would otherwise incur expensive roaming costs.”

What a breath of fresh air . BIRMINGHAM airport please take notice !
Hi Clive,
Your comment confused me because I was sure that on a recent trip through Birmingham Airport, I had been able to use free WiFi. I’ve double-checked on their website and it looks like they do it now (http://www.birminghamairport.co.uk/useful-information/facilities2/wifi.aspx) – hope this relieves your frustration!
Best regards,
Caroline.
