Crisplant Completes Phase 1 of BHS at El Dorado

Automated baggage handling systems supplier Crisplant has completed the first phase of contract for the design, manufacture and integration of energy-efficient, high-speed automated baggage handling systems (BHS) for the new international and domestic terminals at El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá, Colombia.
The company has installed the BHS in the new International Terminal.  Based on two fully automatic LS-4000E sorters for the highest energy efficiency, the system was installed during construction of the facility over a period of 22 months.  The BHS also included the first installation of the new CrisBelt baggage conveyor system – in addition to being environmentally-friendly, this has quieter operation and a reduced spares inventory.
As part of the four-year residential service programme, a team of around 30 Crisplant employees will provide 24/7 on-site maintenance.
For the second phase of the project, the company will design, build and install the BHS in the new domestic terminal, which is scheduled for completion in 2013.
