Heathrow Recovers After Temporary Runway Closures

12:05: Friday May 24: Heathrow’ Airport is fully operational again following an incident involving a British Airways aircraft that temporarily closed both runways, then left the airport with a single-runway operation for around two hours.
British Airways its BA762 Heathrow to Oslo service carrying 75 passengers returned to Heathrow shortly after take-off due to a technical fault.  The Airbus A319’s emergency slides were deployed.
The airport’s press office says all passengers and crew were safely evacuated from the aircraft which was initially abandoned on the northern runway.  There are no reported injuries.  As Heathrow’s runways routinely operate at almost their maximum capacity, these temporary closures are likely to result in a degree of flight schedule disruption throughout the rest of today.
The airport is advising passengers to check the status of their flight with their airline before travelling to the airport.
