PRESS RELEASE: Five Star Airline Flies High at Global Awards

Japan’s largest airline wins 4th and 5th award in as many months

ANA, Japan’s largest airline, receives two new awards at the SKYTRAX World Airline Awards at Paris Air Show (Tuesday 18th June 2013). The luxury airline, which has been awarded 3 other awards, as well as securing the prestigious five-star rating, since the beginning of the year, now wins World’s Best Airport Services and Best Cabin Cleanliness.

ANA’s winning streak was kicked off earlier this year as they became the latest and only Japanese airline to join the high flyers of the air travel industry- securing a five-star rating from SKYTRAX. Just six other airlines have ever achieved this exclusive classification. It also received Airline of the Year at the Air Transport World awards, as well as the Network – Global Airlines and Lowest Global Cancellations awards from FlightStats.
Globally recognised as the industry benchmark, SKYSTRAX’s World Airline Awards is based on the world’s largest passenger satisfaction survey from over 160 countries. Over 200 airlines are measured by 38 key performance indicators including front-line product and service: check-in; boarding; on-board seat comfort; cabin cleanliness; food, beverages; in-flight entertainment; and staff service.
With a goal to become Asia’s number one airline, ANA applies traditional Japanese hospitality (Omotenashi) to provide luxury and simplicity for their passengers. Travellers are treated to ANA’s signature product and service concept, the ‘Inspiration of Japan’, from departure to arrival. First Class passengers experience individual check in services before heading to a luxury airport lounge which features shower rooms, a salon, noodle bar, and business booths with wireless LAN.
In the air, passengers enjoy the full benefit of Japanese technology with full flat-bed business class seats (the first for a Japanese airline), first class suite seats for extra privacy, the premium economy class providing more space and comfort, as well as economy class with a 34inch seat pitch. Passengers also have access to AVOD in-flight entertainment with iPod connectivity and touch panel.
ANA blends the old and new culture of Japan by offering 100% biodegradable and sustainably sourced bamboo lap rugs, and uses seasonal and fresh ingredients for their food and a hand-picked wine selection.
This year’s Awards take place at the Paris Air Show on June 18th and will be collected by Mr Hiroyuki Ito, Senior Executive Vice President, Engineering & Maintenance, and a press conference attended by Mr Toshitaka Watanabe, Senior Vice President of customer satisfaction, products and service.
