Food travel expert SSP has introduced a new food court, The Food Quarter, at Manchester Airport in the UK.
A selection of street food pop-up offerings is on offer, including ice-cream van Ginger’s Comfort Emporium, run by Claire Kelsey (pictured). Aimed at ‘grown-ups’, flavours include marmalade on toast.
The pop-up street food offer aims to vary according to the season, and is being devised in partnership with food journalist Richard Johnson.
The Food Quarter also features one of SSP’s newest concepts, Mi Casa Burritos, offering Mexican street food such as burritos and nachos. All are prepared freshly at the counter and served in travel-friendly packaging. Since the first Mi Casa Burritos outlet opened at London’s Victoria rail station in February 2012, sales are now increasing at a rate of more than 20% year on year.
Popular brands Upper Crust and The Pasty Shop have also opened at the airport.
