Ecat: The World’s First Electrically-powered High-loader

DOLL_ecatDOLL is exhibiting the world’s first operational electrically-powered high-loader at the inter airport Europe fair in Munich until October 11.
Developed from its Diesel-powered predecessors, the new variant has a completely new driving system.  Its original conventional truck engine was replaced by an emissions-free electric unit which provides obvious environmental benefits.
The energy required to operate the vehicle is provided is by high-performance batteries, which can be charged anytime at the ramp.
The new vehicle was developed in cooperation with gategroup and German E-cars. The latter developed and provided the vehicle’s control and management system whereas Gate Gourmet, a subsidiary of gategroup, was actively involved in the high-loader’s development.
Bernhard Rabian, Vice President of Group Procurement in Europe and Africa for
gategroup, commented: ‘We are so proud to be a part of innovation projects such as this.  Through our long-standing collaboration with one of our key partners, we were able to combine our in-depth understanding of how to service aircrafts with their extensive technical expertise in building the vehicles to make that possible.’ before it will be put to use on the tarmac by gategroup.
