An event to launch SAS’ new direct route between Humberside and Copenhagen was held on Monday 28 October 2013, at Humberside International Airport with more than 200 guests in attendance.
The Hull & Humber Chamber of Commerce’s Chief Executive, Dr Ian Kelly said: “The Chamber is very pleased that Scandinavian Airlines has chosen Humberside International Airport for its new direct route to Copenhagen and Scandinavia.
“To have a flag carrier like SAS representing Denmark, Norway and Sweden flying daily into Humberside is a great vote of support for business in the Humber region.
“This new daily route will be a great asset to firms whose staff travel, not just to Scandinavia, but the wider world, thanks to the great onward connection options,” said Dr Kelly.
Camilla Carlbom, Swedish Consul for the Humber region, added: “The Humber Chapter of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce is very excited by the new SAS route between Humberside and Copenhagen and what it means in terms of trade and tourism for both our regions. This new route will open up not just Denmark, but also Sweden, Finland and the Baltics. Scandinavia has always been a great trading partner and close neighbour across the North Sea so having a fast new route to access Scandinavia will be a boost to business.
“This direct access route will open up The Humber and Lincolnshire to new opportunities, which could benefit local businesses and tourism throughout our region and Sweden too, as both have so much to offer and explore.”
Connections are available at Copenhagen to a number of onward points including:
- Finland (Turku and Helsinki)
- Sweden (Gothenburg and Stockholm)
- Norway (Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger)
- Poland (Warsaw, Gdansk, Poznan, Wroclaw)
- Lithuania (Palanga)
- Denmark (Aarhus, Billund, Aalborg)
