Brisbane Completes Main Runway Resurfacing

BNE Runway ResurfacedBrisbane Airport (IATA: BNE) has announced the resurfacing of its main runway was recently completed after six months of night works involving up to 100 personnel and 60 items of plant and equipment per shift.  More than 200,000 work hours and 18,000 tonnes of asphalt have been employed in this project, at an investment of around $15 million. The resurfacing, which was conducted between midnight and 5am up to six nights a week, replaced the existing 11 year old asphalt in the touchdown zones at either end of the runway with asphalt produced onsite at a specially constructed mobile batch plant. The airport says the new asphalt will provide a high quality runway surface for at least the next ten  years.
