Copa Airlines Launches Tampa – Panama Services

Copa Water ArchOn December 17 Copa Airlines, the national carrier of the Republic of Panama,  launched a four times per week non-stop service between Tampa International Airport and Copa’s Hub at Tocumen International Airport in Panama.  The new service represents Copa’s ninth US destination out of a route network of 66 and offers onward connecting services throughout Latin America.
“We’re very pleased to provide Tampa-area business and leisure travellers the first-time-ever nonstop service between Tampa and Panama,” said Joe Mohan, Senior Vice President, Commercial and Planning, Copa Airlines.  “The new route also opens up access between the Tampa Bay area and Latin American business and tourism markets, contributing to the economic growth of both regions.”
Tampa International Airport CEO, Joe Lopano, added: “This inaugural flight is a celebration of a gateway opening between Tampa and Latin America extending far beyond Panama through Copa’s reach into key destinations in South America.  Our community leaders are committed to boosting both our economy and Panama’s economy through more business relationships and tourism.”
Copa will operate a Boeing 737-700 Next Generation with 12 business class seats and 112 economy seats on the flights to Panama.  The flight departs Panama on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 18:34, arriving in Tampa at 21:53 local time.  The return flight leaves Tampa at 07:02 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, arriving at Tocumen at 10:12.  
Copa says its on-board service includes complimentary meals and beverages, including wines and spirits; a 12-channel audio-visual entertainment system in English, Spanish and Portuguese, with new movies monthly and complimentary headsets.  Flight attendants are bilingual.  Copa’s website,, is available in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
