Spanish airport operator Aena has begun the process of renewing licenses for third-party ground handling fuel services at 39 airports.
Aena has invited all stakeholders to participate in defining public tenders; asking for their comments prior to the finalization of the technical requirements. The consultation period will last for two months and the public tenders are scheduled to be published: “in the second half” of 2014.
The bidding for fuel support services contracts will be carried out in two phases. The first will involve the delivery and storage at 19 airports, with the remaining 20 – being included in Phase Two – will be for delivery services only. Although 39 airports are involved, only 37 licenses will be issued as some will cover multiple facilities. The resulting contracts will run for seven years.
