A TransAsia ATR 72 airliner has crashed after what is being reported as a failed emergency landing in Taiwan. The country’s CNA news agency said that 54 passengers and four crew were on board. At least 47 persons are reported to be dead. TransAsia flight GE222 was a domestic service from Kaohsiung to Magong Airport on Penghu Island. It departed Kaohsiung at 1743 local time and crashed near Magong airport after reportedly performing a go-around. According to local media the aircraft aborted its initial landing and then crashed at 1906 local time.
