Hermes Airports has announced the introduction of automatic-electronic gates at Larnaka International Airport, Cyprus. The airport operator says this is the first phase of the implementation of an automated system which is located in the departures area. It allows travellers with a printed copy of their boarding pass to scan its barcode and proceed directly to the security check and then to the terminals’ shops and the departure gates. Hermes Airports says it has ensured that the system is also feasible and available to people with disabilities or reduced mobility (PRM).
Hermes says the second phase of the installation will provide a Fast Track facility which will enable passengers to avoid longer queues and gain quicker access by paying a small fee.
