More check-in capacity, improved passenger circulation and a new food court will be unveiled in 2015 as part of a major transformation of Sydney Airport’s T1 landside departures area.
As part of the works, check-in counters will be extended to accommodate more passengers and more eat-in seating will be added while the pathway through the food court will be moved to provide a line of sight to departures to improve wayfinding.
The airport is widening its range of quality dine-in and takeaway options, with Toby’s Estate opening this week as part of the T1 makeover and Top Juice and Pretzel World to open by the end of the year. Nandos, Soul Origin, Hokka Hokka and Roll’d will open in early 2015, with more to be announced soon.
Two new baggage carousels will also be in service before Christmas in a major expansion of our international baggage reclaim hall. With Sydney Airport currently the seventh busiest A380 hub in the world with more than 120 movements a week, the carousels are 90m long, making them compatible for large movements of passengers.
Phase 1 of the landside transformation will open in early 2015 and is part of a broader redevelopment of T1 throughout 2015 and 2016.
