Kapil Bhargava 1928-2014

Airports International magazine is sad to report the passing of its former India correspondent, Group Captain Kapil Bhargava IAF (Retd), who passed away on December 17, 2014, after a short illness. Kapil was a graduate of the Empire Test Pilots School at Farnborough, UK and went on to have a distinguished career as a test pilot with the Indian Air Force. After leaving the air force in 1976 Kapil continued flying as the Flight Safety Director at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in Bangalore. As a life-long aviation enthusiast he never really ‘retired’ from the aviation world and became a sought-after and enthusiastic speaker, writer and blogger on military and commercial matters for as long as his health allowed.
Above all though, Kapil was a most courteous and humble man and a delight to work with. I shall always treasure our numerous conversations about ‘all things aviation’.
