New Wizz Air Hangar at Budapest

Budapest Airport has opened a new maintenance hangar built exclusively for its home-based carrier Wizz Air. The airline has signed a15 year lease agreement.
Built between the existing aircraft maintenance hangars operated by Lufthansa Technik and Aeroplex, the new 2,000m² hangar will support Wizz Air’s growth at the Hungarian capital. Serving the daily needs of the carrier’s fleet of nine Airbus A320s based aircraft at Budapest, the facility has also been designed to accommodate the larger A321s which are due to join the Wizz Air fleet from 2019 onwards. “The rapid construction of the new Wizz Air hangar is testament to Budapest Airport’s continuous focus and investment in the future,” commented Jost Lammers, CEO, Budapest Airport, adding: “We highly value and support the growth of our largest airline partner and this development signifies a joint commitment and confidence in the Hungarian market.”
