The Gerald R Ford International Airport (IATA: GRR) set a new passenger record by the end of November 2015.
By the end of November, year-to-date passenger numbers totaled 2,347,424, surpassing the previous year’s total passenger count of 2,335,105 in 2014. Currently, passenger numbers are up 9.57% from 2014.
The record breaking month also marks the first year that GRR has served more than 200,000 passengers in November with 205,088 passengers enplaned and deplaned, a 14.16% increase.
The airport’s Executive Director, Brian Ryks, commented: “2015 has been another tremendous year for passenger growth, and we could not be more thrilled by the support from our area passengers.
“As a result of this growth, our airline partners are taking interest by investing in more seats through the introduction of larger aircraft and additional nonstop routes to and from Grand Rapids, which is good for our entire region.”
The airport describes 2014 as a “banner year” as it hit its all-time passenger record total of 2,335,105. The more than 2.3 million people that traveled through in 2014 broke the airport’s previous record of 2,275,332 set in 2011.
In July 2015, 234,282 total passengers passed through GRR, making it the best month in airport’s history.
