Long-standing plans to develop a fast rail link between Charles de Gaulle Airport (IATA: CDG) and the city of Paris have received a significant boost. On February 17 the airport operator Aéroports de Paris and the French rail provider SNCF were given permission to create a joint project company which will be responsible for the design, financing, construction and maintenance of CDG Express.
Two previous attempts to create such a link failed to develop past the design stage but it is now envisaged that the line linking CDG’s Terminal 2 with the city’s Gare de l’Est (East Station) could be operational by 2024.
