With one year to go before the grand opening of the new Oslo Airport, the operator, Avinor, has said the project is “on track.”
The airport’s redeveloped facilities are scheduled to open on April 27, 2017. When complete, Norway will have a main airport that has nearly doubled in size and has the capacity to serve up to 30 million passengers per year.
“The development is proceeding according to plan and parts of the new Oslo Airport will be opened to the public as early as this year. The entire project will be complete and ready to go when we cut the ribbon on Thursday, April 27, 2017,” said Airport Director Øyvind Hasaas at Avinor Oslo Airport.
Norway’s Minister of Transport and Communications, Ketil Solvik-Olsen, has commented he is “very pleased” that there is just one year to go until the grand opening, adding: “Oslo Airport is the most important hub in the Norwegian transportation sector, and passengers will soon be able to enjoy a much larger, better and more efficient airport.”
