Dutch airline KLM has announced it will complete its phasing out of the Fokker 70 at KLM Cityhopper on October 28. It will be the end of a 97-year partnership between KLM and Fokker.
The last flight – KL1070 – is scheduled to depart from London Heathrow in the early evening on October 28 and will arrive in Amsterdam at 8.30pm, local time. Modernising the KLM Cityhopper fleet by replacing the Fokker aircraft with the E-Jet, Embraer 190 and Embraer 175+ began in 2008. These new aircraft are facilitating further expansion of the existing network, higher flight frequencies, and lower costs.
