Finavia Tenders for new Commercial Operators at Helsinki Airport

Finavia, the operator of 21 airports in Finland, has opened a public procurement procedure and is calling for new commercial operators at Finland’s largest international airport, Helsinki Airport.  The tender will be executed according to the EU Concession Directive and includes a total of 13 new commercial spaces for retail and food & beverage.

Under the current public procurement procedure, there are 13 commercial spaces available, totalling 11,635sq ft (1,081m²).  Twelve of them are new and located in the up-coming Helsinki Airport T2-terminal Non-Schengen area and one of them already exists in the Schengen area.  The spaces will be tendered in three categories:

  • 5 spaces for premium retail, total of 5,457sq ft (507m²)
  • 4 spaces for high-end luxury retail, total of 2,615sq ft (243m²)
  • 4 spaces for F&B, total of 3,562sq ft (331m²)

Premium and luxury retail include jewellery, watches, sunglasses, leather goods and fashion apparel.  The premium shops and boutiques are due to open in summer/autumn 2019 and spring 2020 and the luxury retail units in spring 2020 and spring 2021, depending on the exact location.

Spaces reserved for Food & Beverage include a smoothie bar, a luxury tea-house, a champagne bar and a café.  Depending on the location, they will open in autumn 2019, spring 2020 and summer 2021.

The tender is the biggest-ever for Helsinki Airport for the commercial spaces in the new Non-Schengen terminal area currently under construction. It was issued on 18 June 2018 in the Finnish national public procurement announcement system, HILMA , and in the TED (Tenders Electronic Daily), the online version of the ‘Supplement to the Official Journal’ of the EU, dedicated to European public procurement.
