The first of two new hangars is open for business at Vienna International Airport (VIE). The airport operator, Flughafen Wien, is building two new hangars for general aviation on behalf of its subsidiary Vienna Aircraft Handling (VAH). The first of the two (Hangar 8) opened on July 17, whereas the second, Hangar 9, is scheduled to be available this autumn. At that stage, VAH will then have four large hangars available with a total area of about 172,222sq ft (16,000m²) which, the airport says, places its general aviation site among the top ten business aviation airports in Europe.

The new hangars measure 180 x 213ft (55 x 65m) with an entrance height of 32.8ft (10m), giving sufficient room for aircraft ranging up to and including the Bombardier Global business jet.
