The Hong Kong Airport Authority (HKAA) temporarily cancelled all departing passenger flights on the afternoon and evening of Monday August 12 after protestors occupied the terminal buildings. In a statement on Monday afternoon the HKAA said it was cancelling all flights scheduled to depart after 6pm local time that were not already checked in. More than 150 departures have already been affected but inbound flights were allowed to land.

Mass public demonstrations, ignited by the Government’s introduction of a controversial extradition bill, have been ongoing across Hong Kong for more than two months.
