Gdansk Starts Airport City Construction

Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport (IATA: GDN), Poland, has started construction work on its Airport City complex, a commercial investment located at the airport.

It comprises seven office buildings combining service, catering and hotel functions and will be known the letters of the phonetic alphabet: Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot and Golf.

When complete, the Airport City will cover around 1,291,670sq ft (120 000m²) of usable area and approximately 1,076,390sq ft (100 000m²) of rentable space. The airport says the building will be built to Leed Gold environmental standards, have an intelligent management system and 24-hour security.

Disabled access and facilities for cyclists will also be provided.

The Warsaw based PIG Architekci design office provided the Airport City concept along with the design documentation.

The Alpha building, with six above-ground floors and two underground levels, will be completed first and offer 197 parking spaces.
