The Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the operator and managing body of Bahrain International Airport (IATA: BAH), has renumbered its aircraft parking stands, replacing the existing numbering system with a more modern alphanumeric one that helps pilots to differentiate between the cargo, middle and eastern aprons.
A BAC statement said the move brought Bahrain’s gateway “further in line with international standards and best practices while enhancing consistency and aligning the existing stands with the development of the new passenger terminal building.”
The extra parking stands will also enable the airport to accommodate the expected surge in air traffic once the new terminal opens, although an opening date has yet to be released.
BAC chief development and technical officer, Abdulla Janahi, said: “The renumbering of the aircraft stands is a key component in the overall development, which will help to improve operational efficiency. Moreover, it demonstrates BAC’s continued commitment to international standards and best practices.”
