The airport operator for Jorge Chavez International Airport, Lima Airport Partners (LAP) has introduced five new boarding lounges plus five new boarding gates for domestic flights. The task represents an investment of US$3.5 million.
The move is part of the airport’s national hall plus five expansion project and
Pamela Moreno, LAP’s operations manager commented: “We are delighted to present this new space, which allows us to improve and optimise our services for the benefit of passengers and users of the terminal. This latest improvement will allow us to speed up the flow of domestic passengers by 10% and better reorder those flights that take off at simultaneous times.”
The development means that the size and capacity for passenger care related to domestic destinations has been increased. The boarding lounges located on the first floor can accommodate 148 people, while those on the second floor, with this new extension have space for 345 passengers.
The project to remodel the national hall included the expansion of a baggage collection room inaugurated by the end of 2018; the expansion of national boarding halls; and the last phase of the project which includes the expansion of the national check-in area, that will deliver 18 new positions and be open to the public in the coming weeks.
