The Lufthansa Group has awarded a three-year ground handling contract to dnata at Washington’s Dulles Airport (IATA: IAD).
The deal became effective from November 1, after dnata had invested US$ 4 million in equipment and hired 125 staff to its airport team.
The contract includes ground- and passenger handling, plus aircraft cleaning and de-icing services for four airlines of the airline group, Lufthansa, Swiss International Air Lines, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines, which will operate up to a total of six flights a day from Dulles. The company now serves 14 airlines with a team of over 300 staff at IAD, managing 5,200 aircraft movements annually.
Holger Bremes, director commercial airport infrastructure, Lufthansa Group, said: “Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines are excited to grow the North American relationship with dnata at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). With our very positive service experience from destinations like BOS, LAX, SFO and JFK we are looking forward to providing first class service to our customers with our handling partner at Washington Dulles.”
