Airbus to halt the majority of its production in Spain until April 9

The Spanish Government has announced new measures in the fight against COVID-19 which restrict all non-essential activities across the country which will impact upon Airbus’ workforce. They new restrictions run from Monday, March 30 to Thursday, April 9, inclusive.

Airbus said that some key activities in its Commercial Aircraft, Helicopters and Defence and Space sectors remain essential. Therefore, the minimum activity required to support their functions, such as Security, IT, Engineering, will continue under the stringent health and safety measures implemented by the company.

A company statement said that all other activities in those areas will be stopped until at least April 9, the earliest date that restrictions can be lifted.

Airbus said it working closely with its social partners to apply the measures applicable under the latest restrictions. Its employees in Spain whose jobs are not linked to production and assembly activities and can work from home, will continue with their tasks.
