Spirit Airlines suspends flights to three states due to coronavirus fears

The American budget carrier, Spirit Airlines, is to cancel all flights serving New York, Connecticut and New Jersey after officials from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advised against travel to those areas because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The affected airports are New York LaGuardia, Newark, Hartford, Niagara Falls and Plattsburgh and the cancellations will last until at least May 4.

The US Federal Aviation Administration has recently waived rules requiring minimum flights from high-traffic airports like LaGuardia because of the coronavirus pandemic.
