All flights from Changi Airport’s Terminal 2 will stop for a period of 18 months, starting from May 1, 2020. The temporary closure is another result of the COVID-19 outbreak; operations have already been greatly scaled back at Changi’s Terminal 4.
Airlines currently flying from Terminal 2 will relocate to the airport’s other three terminals and the home carrier, Singapore Airlines, will consolidate its flights at Terminal 3.
The temporary cutbacks will allow the airport operator, the Changi Airport Group (CAG), and its tenant companies to reduce their running costs during the epidemic.
On a more positive note, T2’s closure will allow scheduled improvement works to be brought forward, shortening a development project their by up to one year.
