To do its part in addressing the Covid-19 crisis, Lufthansa is currently operating two daily flights carrying protective equipment (PPE) from China to Munich Airport using its Airbus A350 fleet.

The A350s normally carry passengers on intercontinental services but have re-tasked with special daily cargo flights from Beijing and Shanghai. The aircraft are mainly loaded with masks that are urgently needed in the Bavarian capital. Employees of Munich Airport’s ground handling subsidiary AeroGround are unloading the arriving aircraft. The cargo is then transported to its final destinations by freight forwarding companies contracted by the federal government.
Lufthansa is currently using four A350 flights for the Munich services while six of its A330s have been employed on similar flights from Frankfurt. The daily services are expected to continue until at least mid-May.
