Customers will be able to input COVID-19 test results and check in through digital verification
American Airlines is set to release a new mobile app from November 18 in the hope it will make travelling easier.
The new app, called VeriFLY mobile wellness wallet and created by the identity assurance firm Daon, includes information on Coronavirus testing and the documentation requirements needed for the passenger’s destination.
Tom Grissen, CEO of Daon, said the company “is honoured to collaborate with American Airlines in the pursuit of a faster, safer, more seamless customer travel experience.”
Customers will also be able to streamline airport check-in through a digital verification system, which will ensure the completion of all the requirements needed to travel.
Those travelling to Montego Bay (MBJ) and Kingston (KIN), Jamaica, from or connecting through Miami (MIA) will all have the opportunity to trial the app.
“Piloting this new solution is a direct response to our customers’ increasing desire to explore more international travel opportunities,” said Robert Isom, President of American Airlines.
“The app will help us deliver a more seamless travel experience as we support demand return and put customers’ minds at ease that they are fully prepared for their trip.”
Before travelling, the customer will be required to download the app where they will be able to find flight information, input their negative test result and any required documentation they may need.
As each section is ticked off, the app ensures that all the processed information coincides with the destinations regulations for travel. Reminders also pop up on the app to tell the customer when their travel window is or if their credentials have expired.
On the day of departure from MIA, customers using the app will be directed to an expedited entry lane for testing verification, located in the north terminal. Passengers have to show their pass validation on the app, which will then enable them to board.
American Airlines are expected to expand its program within the next few months.
